The Ukrainian Navy stated that two Su-34 fighter-bombers were destroyed as a result of the strike. The report did not provide details about the missiles used, the circumstances of the engagement, or whether other aircraft or infrastructure were damaged.
Su-34 aircraft is one of the main platforms used by russia's tactical aviation to launch guided aerial bombs against Ukrainian cities, positions, and frontline areas. These weapons allow russian aircraft to attack targets from a distance without necessarily flying directly over them.
Destroying the aircraft could reduce russia's capacity to conduct such strikes, particularly if the losses are confirmed and the aircraft cannot be quickly replaced. Su-34 aircraft is a specialized strike aircraft used for missions against both military positions and infrastructure.
