Ukraine's Defense Intelligence conducted a successful operation overnight on March 13-14 targeting russian maritime logistics assets supporting the war against Ukraine. Ukrainian special units from the agency's Department of Active Actions struck two russian vessels used in military transport operations.
As a result of the operation, russian Slavyanin railway ferry was disabled, while another vessel, Avangard, sustained damage. Both ships were reportedly used by russian forces to support military logistics connected to the ongoing war against Ukraine.

The vessels were part of the Kerch ferry crossing, a transport link between mainland russia and Crimea. This maritime route has played an important role in russia's military logistics network, particularly after repeated disruptions to other supply routes in the region.
Russian forces used these ferries to transport weapons, military equipment, ammunition, and other supplies necessary for sustaining operations in occupied Ukrainian territories. Disabling one of the ferries and damaging another could therefore complicate logistical flows through the Kerch Strait area.

During the same operation, Ukrainian intelligence units, working in coordination with other components, also carried out strikes against infrastructure at Port Kavkaz in russia's Krasnodar region. The port serves as a major logistics hub on the russian side of the Kerch Strait.
Port Kavkaz is used by russia to support military supply routes, including maritime transport operations connected to Crimea and south of Ukraine. Damage to port infrastructure could further disrupt the movement of cargo and military materiel across the region.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian forces carried out overnight strikes on russia's Afipsky oil refinery and infrastructure at Port Kavkaz in Krasnodar region, targeting facilities linked to the supply of russian military operations.
