Ukrainian forces carried out a series of coordinated strikes overnight on May 7, targeting russian naval, command, logistical, and troop concentration assets across several temporarily occupied regions and deep inside russian territory. Among the most notable targets was the Project 22800 Karakurt small missile ship stationed at the Caspian naval base in Kaspiysk, Dagestan.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the vessel was struck directly at its basing point. Project 22800 Karakurt class is a modern russian multipurpose missile corvette capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles, making it a strategically important platform within russia's naval strike architecture.

The extent of the damage to the vessel is still being clarified. However, any successful strike against a Kalibr-capable platform represents a significant operational challenge for russia, particularly as Moscow has repeatedly used sea-launched cruise missiles in strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure and cities.

In addition to the naval target, Ukrainian forces struck russian command post in Sosnivka, located in Luhansk region. Another UAV command and control point was reportedly hit near Yasne in Donetsk region, suggesting a continued focus on degrading russian drone coordination capabilities.

Logistical infrastructure also came under attack during the operation. Ukrainian strikes targeted an ammunition depot in Kalmykivka and a fuel storage facility near Smolianynove in Luhansk region. Such facilities are essential for sustaining artillery operations, troop mobility, and frontline supply chains.

The General Staff also reported strikes against concentrations of russian personnel in the areas of Dersove in Donetsk region and Smile in Zaporizhzhia region. Targeting troop assembly areas can disrupt offensive preparations, reduce combat effectiveness, and complicate force rotations near active combat zones.
