Ukrainian drone operators have released dramatic footage showing the destruction of russian BM-27 Uragan multiple launch rocket system moments before it was able to carry out a combat mission. The strike was conducted by the Lasar's Group of Ukraine's National Guard.
According to the unit, the engagement took place in early July on the Novopavlivka axis, where intelligence analysts had identified an area used by russian forces as firing positions for multiple launch rocket systems. After collecting and analyzing reconnaissance data, the information was passed to strike drone crews tasked with intercepting the target before it could fire.

The identified vehicle was a loaded BM-27 Uragan system already moving toward its designated firing position. The 220 mm rocket artillery system is capable of launching devastating salvos against troop concentrations, armored vehicles, and infrastructure, making it a high-priority target for Ukrainian forces.
Using the intelligence gathered beforehand, the drone operators successfully located the launcher and carried out a precision attack. Two direct drone strikes hit the vehicle before it could deploy and prepare for launch, preventing the russian crew from executing its planned mission.
The consequences were particularly dramatic because the launcher was fully loaded with rockets. After catching fire, the ammunition began to detonate, creating a chain reaction that sent rockets blasting out of the launch tubes in multiple directions. Since the crew had not yet elevated the launcher into its firing position, the rockets reportedly flew almost horizontally during the uncontrolled cook-off.
The National Guard noted that multiple launch rocket systems remain among the drone unit's preferred targets due to the catastrophic secondary explosions they produce when destroyed while carrying ammunition. Such strikes not only eliminate an expensive artillery asset but also destroy its full rocket load in a single engagement.
