russian 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer was destroyed by Ukrainian forces before it could reportedly open fire on Ukrainian positions. The strike was carried out by operators of the Rarog 427th Brigade and captured on video.
The footage, released by Ukraine's 119th Brigade, shows the destruction of russian artillery system in its area of responsibility.

According to the brigade, the Gvozdika system was preparing to engage Ukrainian positions when it was detected. This would have made the artillery system an immediate threat, as Gvozdika system is designed to provide indirect fire support against targets behind the front line.
Instead of allowing russian crew to complete preparations for the attack, Ukrainian forces moved to engage the system. Reconnaissance personnel located the target, while operators from the Rarog Brigade subsequently carried out the strike.
The resulting explosion was particularly powerful, with the footage showing what appears to be the detonation of the howitzer's ammunition. The blast effectively destroyed the self-propelled gun, preventing it from carrying out its intended mission.
The 2S1 Gvozdika is a Soviet-era 122 mm self-propelled howitzer based on a tracked chassis. Despite its age, systems of this type remain widely used by russian forces because of their mobility and ability to provide artillery support to frontline units.
As Defense Express previously reported, russian helicopter attempted to intercept Ukrainian UAV attacking a tanker, but the drone evaded the fire and reached its target.
