At approximately 11:00 AM, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported that Ukrainian forces conducted coordinated strikes across several areas in the Kursk region.
“In the Kursk region, the russians are deeply concerned because they were attacked on several fronts, and this came as a surprise to them,” said Andriy Kovalenko, the head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council.
The offensive was acknowledged by the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, who remarked, “Kursk region, good news—russia is getting what it deserves.”
Details of the Offensive
Russian sources claim that Ukrainian forces advanced from the city of Sudzha toward the village of Bolshoye Soldatskoye. Additional attacks reportedly occurred northeast of Sudzha, near the village of Russkoe Porechnoe and the Berdin settlement.
Bolshoye Soldatskoye lies approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Sudzha, which is under Ukrainian control, and about 80 kilometers from the city of Kursk. According to russian Telegram channels, six Ukrainian brigades, supported by armored units, advanced toward Bolshoye Soldatskoye and Berdin along the 38K-004 highway. Ukrainian forces also allegedly targeted russian positions in the village of Pushkarnoye within the Kursk region.
Capture of Berdin
Later, Russian media claimed that Berdin had been captured by Ukrainian forces. They further alleged that Ukraine’s broader objective was to seize the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant in Kurchatov. However, this claim contradicts a statement made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in late October, in which he clarified that Ukraine could have taken the plant but chose not to.
Official Statements
As of now, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has not released any official information regarding the situation in the Kursk region. Similarly, the russian government has not issued a formal statement, although russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov has reportedly arrived in Kursk.
