Ukrainian Armed Forces Establish Experimental Units for EW Systems Testing

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have established experimental units to enhance the development and testing of new Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) systems

Given that electronic warfare is one of the top priorities, a decision was made to create units within the Ukrainian Armed Forces dedicated to testing the latest EW developments in real combat conditions.

This information was shared by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a report on scaling up the production of domestically produced EW systems.

These experimental units have already conducted field tests of the latest Ukrainian EW systems. These tests involve deploying EW systems in active combat scenarios, allowing developers to refine their designs based on practical battlefield feedback. Based on the results of these experiments, the General Staff plans to increase the production of domestic EW systems and expedite their deployment to the frontlines.

The need for this acceleration was highlighted by Colonel Andriy Lebedenko, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at a specialized forum held in September.

"In modern warfare, the number of UAV strikes rivals that of artillery. The deployment of UAVs increases each month, as does the variety of their modifications. Today, UAV strikes account for 60% of all strikes," Lebedenko stated at the forum.

As a result, the development of EW systems requires exceptional speed and adaptability. A key challenge now is training more personnel to effectively operate these systems.

Notably, the "Iron Polygon" initiative has been established to support these efforts. This government-funded program provides free testing facilities to defense contractors.
