The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released a new operational update regarding the russian invasion as of 18:00 on May 7, 2022.

- The Russian army lost control of the Tsyrkuny village in the Kharkiv Oblast. In the same region, Russia tried to capture the village of Virnopillya but suffered losses and retreated.
- In the Donetsk direction, the occupiers are making major efforts to take complete control of Rubizhne and prepare the offensive on the Lyman and Severodonetsk settlements. Artillery and missile strikes continue. In addition, Russia tried to take control of the village of Alexandrovka but failed.
- In the Mariupol direction, the Russian army continues to block units of Ukrainian Forces near the Azovstal plant — the occupiers are storming the plant under artillery and tanksʼs fire support.
- In the Zaporizhia Oblast, Russia tried to advance in the Poltavka village direction with the support of aviation but suffered losses and retreated to previously occupied positions. In the area of the town of Polohy, the Ukrainian military successfully inflicted a fire defeat on the Russians: they destroyed part of their weapons and military equipment. The enemy personnel fled their positions.
- In the Slobozhansky direction, the main efforts of the Russians are now aimed at preventing the further advance of our troops in the direction of the Ukrainian state border.
- More than 100 wounded Russian airborne troops were discovered in the occupied village of Burchak in Zaporizhia Oblast.
