Ukrainian troops from the 225th Regiment successfully evacuated the T-72 tank after drone attacks left it unable to move

Ukrainian evacuation platoon from the 225th Regiment spent approximately nine hours recovering damaged T-72 tank after drone attacks left one of its tracks completely immobilized. The tank was eventually evacuated using the WZT-3 armored recovery vehicle, and it is now undergoing repairs before its planned return to service.

The regiment published footage of the evacuation, showing the recovery team's efforts to pull the damaged tank out of its position.

The T-72 tank had sustained damage during attacks by FPV drones. When the evacuation team reached the vehicle, its crew discovered that the track on one side was no longer moving, preventing the tank from driving under its own power.

The immobilized track significantly complicated the recovery operation. The team had to tow the multi-ton vehicle while one side of its running gear remained completely locked, making the extraction considerably more difficult.

For the operation, the evacuation platoon used the WZT-3 armored recovery vehicle based on the T-72 tank chassis. The vehicle is designed to support the recovery and maintenance of armored vehicles, including tanks that cannot move independently.

According to the regiment, the operation's success depended on the recovery crew and the skills of the vehicle's driver. Despite the difficulties caused by the immobilized track, the team managed to pull the damaged tank out of its position after approximately nine hours of work.

The T-72 tank is now undergoing repairs. The regiment plans to return it to service once the necessary work has been completed, potentially restoring a damaged tank to Ukraine's available armored fleet rather than abandoning it on the battlefield.
