Although the new development is already being tested, there are not a lot of details about it

Ukrainian volunteer Serhiy Prytula announced that the Defense Forces of Unkraine will soon have an effective new type of weapon against russian long-range guided bombs.

"There is a certain technical solution that has been invented here in Ukraine. We are currently testing this new type of weapon, and if it is successful, it will be launched into series production," Prytula said in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.

The fact that this is a really promising and effective method of counteraction is evidenced by the announcement of a fundraising that will be launched in case of successful tests. He did not give any other details about the new type of weapon against russian bombs.

It should be noted that there are currently only a few types of possible neutralization of russian guided bombs. The first is to destroy them. It is possible to use air defense systems for this purpose, but it is impossible to call it effective.

The next candidate for destroying guided bombs could be anti-aircraft systems such as Phalanx CIWS automated gun-based close-in weapon system or its ground-based Centurion C-RAM naval anti-aircraft artillery system that Ukraine has repeatedly requested. But this is a full-fledged development that takes years and costs hundreds of millions of dollars.

There are also alternative methods of neutralization: lasers weapon systems or microwave radiation. But all of this has not gone beyond the stage of prototypes even in Western countries with huge budgets. The British DragonFire is a great example.

Bombs can also be countered by interfering their satellite navigation. But the problem is that russians are using Kometa-M navigation modules. They have high noise resistance. That is why it is difficult to call electronic warfare a final solution.

Therefore, it is quite possible that Prytula is talking about other methods of counteraction, but their principle is still unknown.

Given that mass production will be launched if the efficiency is proven, we are talking about a solution that is not based on powerful single systems, but something massive and affordable. So we can only wait for the tests to be completed.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukrainian S-125 air defense system from the 1960s had first shot down a Kalibr and then over fifty more russian missiles and UAVs.
