Ukrainian Su-27 fighter has carried out a precision strike against russian artillery positions using several GBU-39 Small Diameter Bombs. The operation was conducted by a pilot of the 39th Brigade, with footage of the strike released by the brigade.
The target was a group of russian D-30 howitzers, 122 mm artillery systems that remain widely used by russian forces despite their Soviet origins.

Their continued presence on the battlefield makes them an important element of russia's conventional artillery capabilities, particularly for providing indirect fire in support of frontline operations.
The destruction of these systems therefore has a significance beyond the loss of individual guns. Russian artillery is routinely used to suppress Ukrainian positions and support assault groups, meaning that eliminating artillery assets can reduce the fire support available to russian units operating in the area.
What makes the strike particularly notable is the use of GBU-39 bombs from the Su-27 aircraft. The Small Diameter Bomb is a compact precision-guided munition designed to engage fixed targets with a high degree of accuracy. Its relatively small size also allows an aircraft to carry multiple weapons during a single sortie.
According to the 39th Brigade, the destruction of russian artillery was confirmed by objective-control means. The released footage documents the combat use of the aircraft and the effects of the strike on the targeted positions.
