The National Guard confirmed the arrival of a highly automated artillery system designed for rapid fire and survivability

Ukraine continues to modernize its artillery capabilities, as the artillery unit of the Lubart Brigade has received a new self-propelled howitzer system, the DITA self-propelled howitzer. The delivery was confirmed by the National Guard of Ukraine, which also released images of the system in service.

DITA system is a Czech-made artillery platform notable for its high level of automation and advanced battlefield integration. Designed to reduce crew exposure and increase firing efficiency, the system represents a significant technological upgrade compared to legacy Soviet-era artillery still widely used in the region.

One of the system's defining features is its automated loading mechanism, which allows the crew to operate entirely from within a protected armored cabin. This reduces the need for manual handling of ammunition and minimizes vulnerability to shrapnel, small arms fire, and drone-detected counterstrikes.

Equally important is DITA system's digital fire control system, which enables rapid deployment and engagement. From the moment the system halts, it can be ready to fire within seconds, an essential capability in modern counter-battery warfare, where survivability depends on speed and mobility.

The introduction of such systems comes at a time when artillery duels remain a defining feature of the front. The ability to fire quickly and relocate before enemy retaliation, commonly referred to as shoot-and-scoot, is critical for maintaining operational effectiveness and avoiding losses.
