Late evening January 13th, Ukraine attacked the Bryansk region of russia with deep strike weapons, according to media reports by russian outlets and footage by locals filming multiple impacts. Based on OSINT geolocation and reports, the most likely targets of this attack were the former 120th GRAU arsenal, a large ammunition storage facility, and the chemicals plant in the Seltso village.
The weapon russia claims to have been used by Ukrainian forces is the ATACMS tactical ballistic missile. The RFE/RL russian office counted 30 explosions heard in the area late evening and overnight.

Once known as the 120th Arsenal of russia's Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU), the 1060th Centre for Material-Technical Support in Bryansk has suffered similar attacks twice before, including a suicide drone strike on November 10th, 2024, revealing that it wasn't the best idea to start building a new plant in this city, situated roughly 100 km (60 mi) from the Ukrainian border.
The other claimed target of the missile attack this Monday was the Bryansk Chemical Plant Named After the 50th Anniversary of the USSR located in the village of Seltso, almost 115 km (or 70 miles) from Ukraine's state border.
The plant specializes in the production of powder, solid rocket propellants, explosives used in artillery rounds and missiles for the russian army, explained Andrii Kovalenko, chief of Ukraine's official Center for Countering Disinformation, as quoted by TSN.ua.
This is not the first attack for this plant either, with at least five known instances where the plant became the target of Ukrainian strikes. All previous attempts, however, involved much simpler explosive long-range drones, not ballistic missiles, and didn't inflict any substantial damage, blogger Colonel GSh noted.
