According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the targeted command post was located in Novohrodivka.
"On January 12, the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted a precise airstrike on the command post of the 2nd Guards Combined Arms Army of the russian federation, positioned in Novohrodivka, Donetsk region," the statement read.

The General Staff emphasized that this strike is part of an ongoing campaign targeting key command and control centers of the occupying forces in the Donetsk direction.
"The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to demonstrate a high level of coordination and professionalism in identifying and neutralizing key command and control elements and the enemy's military infrastructure," the military noted.
This latest strike follows a series of successful operations against russian command posts in the region.
On January 10, Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the command center of the 3rd Army Corps of the russian Armed Forces in Svitlodarsk, Donetsk region.
On January 8, they destroyed the command post of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army, which the occupiers had established in the captured city of Khartsyzk, Donetsk region.
