Ukrainian attack on the Pogar checkpoint severely impacts russia’s ability to launch UAVs into Ukraine

On March 27, 2025, the Ukrainian Air Force successfully targeted the Pogar border checkpoint near Sluchovsk in russia’s Bryansk region. The strike resulted in the destruction of key military infrastructure, including communication and electronic warfare systems, surveillance equipment, and other technical assets.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the attack eliminated between 15 and 40 russian personnel. The operation was a direct response to russia’s ongoing terror campaign against Ukraine, which involves daily drone strikes on civilian infrastructure, homes, and populated areas.

The Pogar checkpoint had been a known launch site for russian UAV attacks, making its destruction a significant setback for the enemy. This strike is expected to reduce russia’s ability to conduct combat operations against Ukrainian forces in Sumy region and along the Kursk direction.
