In order for Ukraine to gain an advantage in the sky, it’s not only the F-16 fighters that are needed. Aviation missiles and powerful radars are also necessary, according to the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force Colonel Yuriy Ignat.
He explained that there are various types of missiles for aviation, as well as their modifications for striking targets at different distances. For instance, he mentioned the AIM-120 AMRAAM, which is the main armament of NATO countries.

As Colonel Yuriy Ignat pointed out, these missiles are specifically needed for the NASAMS, which has been provided to Ukraine by its partners.
“Aviation strike assets are a costly matter. A missile for NASAMS costs half a million dollars... There are AIM-120 AMRAAM modifications that can target objects up to 180 kilometers away. This is sufficient to pose a threat to the russian Su-35 aircraft,” the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force emphasized.
