The press service of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade announced yesterday, August 22, the success of their offensive operations in Kharkiv region, where they recaptured territory from russian forces. Earlier that day, the brigade had also released a video titled “First footage of the assault in full swing. Details to follow”.
The counteroffensive, which began on August 15, saw the brigade’s fighters seize control of key defensive positions held by russian occupiers, including battalion, platoon and company strongholds. Despite facing an enemy force two and a half times larger, excluding support forces, the 3rd Brigade advanced nearly 2 square kilometers into temporarily occupied territory.

Brigade commander Colonel Andrii Biletskyi confirmed that the mission’s primary objective – weakening the offensive capabilities of russia’s 20th Army – was successfully achieved. Within just four days, the brigade inflicted heavy losses on the enemy, with approximately 300 personnel killed and a significant amount of weapons and military equipment destroyed or damaged.
This operation, conducted with the same level of secrecy as Ukrainian forces’ offensive in Kursk region, effectively diverted russian forces away from Makiivka and alleviated pressure on other critical areas. Colonel Andrii Biletsky attributed the operation’s success to meticulous planning, innovative strategies, and the coordinated efforts of artillery, air defense units, reconnaissance and other support teams. He emphasized that the true heroes of this mission were the tank crews, sappers, scouts and especially the assault troops on the front lines.
