Swedish MoD Has Officially Confirmed the Transfer of Eight Archer Self-Propelled Artillery Systems to Ukraine

The deployment of the Archer system is a significant boost to Ukrainian artillery capabilities. This specialized system can quickly and accurately hit specific enemy heavy weapons from a long distance. It is ideal for conducting counter-battery combat and eliminating enemy artillery troops

The transfer of 8 Archer self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine was announced by the Minister of Defense of Sweden, Pål Jonson, as reported by SVT. Thus, he officially confirmed the arrival of these weapons in Ukraine.

According to him, this is definitely a big deal for Ukrainians, as the Archer systems have good mobility and high accuracy.

The Swedish government made the decision to provide Ukraine with the Archer self-propelled howitzers in January.

The system has a firing range of five kilometers. It takes only a few minutes to deploy, fire and move away.

Let's remind that one of the Archer 155mm self-propelled artillery systems that Ukraine received, Ukrainian military showcased in a video prior to the Day of Rocket Artillery and Engineering Forces of Ukraine on Friday, November 3.

The Swedish self-propelled artillery units have been delivered to the arsenal of the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Archer is a self-propelled howitzer originally designed by Sweden and developed for the needs of the Swedish and Norwegian armies. Archer is 155mm/52 caliber. The chassis on which the M151 Protector remote-controlled weapon station is mounted is a 6×6 Volvo A30D. The maximum speed of the howitzer is 90 km/h.
