This drone is called Setkomet and it is an implementation of a long-known means of countering UAVs

russian operators demonstrated the use of drone equipped with a UAV countermeasure system using a net. This net fires towards the other drone.

The drone is called Setcomet. It allows intercepting Mavic drones as well as it is an alternative to the battering ram, which is also quite often used in such air battles.

It is possible that russians will expand the usage of such UAVs.

We are not talking about a specialized drone, but a gimbal for Mavic drone, that has a standart activation by turning on the illumanation. This means that any drone can be equipped with such a system.

It should be noted that the method of combating drones with nets is probably one of the first attempts to use them as soon as the mass use of drones began. But it is still the one of the options for fighting as well as as it has not become an ultimatum response to threats. Even though solutions with ground-based assets, interceptor drones, air trawls, etc., have been developed over the years.

In addition, the post to the video states that there was a significant threat of so called friendly fire. This is why the so called catcher must be carried out in cooperation with the neighboring units. In addition, the use of such a drone requires special skills, and therefore it is better to entrust its use to a separate UAV crew.

Earlier Defense Express reported that russian military forces had launched Kalibr cruise missiles from the sea of Azov for the first tim.
