According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, russian artillery continues to target border areas in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.
On August 23, enemy aircraft conducted 14 strikes using 20 KABs (guided aerial bombs) in the Kursk region of russia.

In the Kharkiv area, russian forces have attempted to storm Ukrainian positions four times near Hlyboke, Starytsia, and Vovchansk, with three combat engagements currently ongoing.
In the Kupiansk area, the enemy launched nine attacks. Ukrainian defenders are repelling assaults near Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Synkivka, and Stelmakhivka, with two engagements still ongoing. The enemy is actively employing aviation, dropping ten KABs on the areas around Novoosynove, Bohuslavka, and Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman area, enemy units persist in attacking Druzheliubivka, Novosadove, Nevske, Torske, and Terny. Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian forces have repelled eight enemy attacks in this direction, with fighting continuing near Terny.
Battles continue in the Siversk area, where the enemy has attacked near Verkhniokamianske, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, and Spirne seven times, attempting to capture Ukrainian positions. Ukrainian defenders have repelled all these attacks.
In the Kramatorsk area, russia launched four assaults near Ivanivske and Kalynivka, with two engagements still ongoing near Kalynivka.
In the Toretsk area, the enemy has carried out five attacks near the settlements of Nelipivka and Toretsk. Ukrainian defenders are holding strong, having repelled three of these attacks, with two still ongoing. Additionally, enemy aviation has struck the settlement of Druzhba with unguided air missiles.
The Pokrovsk area remains the most intense frontline. Since the start of the day, the occupiers have launched 20 attacks on Ukrainian defenders in the areas of Vozdvyzhivka, Kalynove, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Ptyche, and Zelenopillia. Ukrainian forces have repelled 11 of these attacks, with nine engagements still ongoing.
The situation is similarly challenging in the Kurakhove area, where invaders have attacked Ukrainian units 15 times, attempting to advance near Kostiantynivka, Heorhiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Karlivka. Fighting continues at five locations.
In the Vremivka area, russian forces have launched seven attacks on Ukrainian positions. Near Vuhledar, Vodiane, and Kostiantynivka, Ukrainian defenders have repelled three enemy attacks, with fighting continuing near Vodiane.
In other areas, the enemy is not currently engaged in active ground operations but is employing bomber and assault aircraft to shell Ukrainian positions and settlements with artillery and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
