On the night of January 2, 2024, a significant aerial attack unfolded, reminiscent of a similar attack on December 29, 2023. The enemy employed a diverse array of weapons, targeting critical infrastructure, industrial complexes, civilian and military areas. The epicenter of this attack was the capital of Ukraine.
The initial wave of the attack featured the Shahed drones advancing from the southeast, intent on spreading across various regions of Ukraine. Notably, all 35 Shahed-136/131 UAVs were successfully neutralized.

As morning broke, the adversary unleashed strategic aviation, deploying Tu-95MS bombers. Around 6:00, 16 aircraft approached the launch line, releasing at least 70 cruise missiles: Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kh-55.
Subsequently, at 7:30, monitoring systems detected the launch of ten Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles Kh-47M2 from the MiG-31K fighters. Simultaneously, a naval assault unfolded with three Kalibr cruise missiles, and a northern attack featured 12 missiles following a ballistic trajectory akin to Iskander-M/S-300/S-400 types.
Further intensifying the attack, four Kh-31P anti-radar missiles were deployed from the Su-35 aircraft.
Preliminary assessments indicate that the enemy utilized a total of 99 airstrike means, incorporating various missile types. In a joint effort, the Ukrainian Air Force, in collaboration with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, successfully intercepted and downed 72 air targets. This included 10 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles, 59 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles and 3 Kalibr cruise missiles.
