russia is increasingly using its new S8000 Banderol small cruise missiles in strikes against Ukraine's Odesa region, with footage now showing the weapons being launched toward targets in the south. Ukrainian aviation has also been seen attempting to intercept the incoming weapons.
The latest footage highlights the growing role of the Banderol system in russia's attacks on Odesa, a strategically important region because of its ports and transport infrastructure.

Russia has repeatedly targeted these facilities in an apparent effort to disrupt Ukraine's maritime and logistics operations.
The S8000 Banderol is a relatively new russian weapon. Ukrainian intelligence has previously identified it as a small cruise missile, while the Ukrainian Air Force has also described Banderols as loitering munitions. The weapon is associated with russia's Kronstadt defense company and has been developed as a comparatively inexpensive strike system.
According to available Ukrainian assessments, the Banderol system can carry a warhead weighing up to 150 kg and is designed to strike targets at ranges of up to 500 km. Its reported speed is around 500 km/h, while more recent intelligence data puts its cruising speed at approximately 520-560 km/h and maximum speed at 620-650 km/h.
The missile is powered by a turbojet engine and uses aviation kerosene as fuel. Its relatively compact design and jet propulsion give it characteristics closer to a small cruise missile than a conventional Shahed-type drone.
The weapon's reported range also allows russian forces to launch it from temporarily occupied Crimea against targets in Odesa region.
