Many prisoners who served in the Storm Z units did not receive the promised payments from the Ministry of Defense of russia, nor did they obtain documentation for the reduction of their sentences. This failure to fulfill commitments extends to both salaries and compensation for injuries or disabilities resulting from their involvement in combat, National Resistance Center of Ukraine reports.
Furthermore, it has been revealed that service contracts for Storm Z units were frequently established not with the Ministry of Defense of russia, but with the representative of the russian occupation administration in the temporarily Donetsk under the guise of “participation in a volunteer formation”. From a legal standpoint, these prisoners are not recognized as military personnel of the Armed Forces of russia, thereby depriving them of any entitlement to social and financial guarantees.
