What evidence is there that russians had to search for components to produce their fifth-generation aircraft

The Frontelligence Insight OSINT research team published a study on russian procurement of some components for Su-57 aircraft production, bypassing Western sanctions on its X account.

According to the research, russian Mikropribor company needed to purchase some equipment to set up automated workstations for calibration and laboratory testing of MPPU-50 devices.

It is also reported that the purchase of a German-made Siemens KLE 360 machine with computer numerical control. The procurement contract was concluded in July 2022, i.e. after the start of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine.

At first glance, everything looks pretty clear. russian defense industry has become so dependent on supplies from the West. This is evident in the story with such aircraft as Su-57.

It is possible to notice more interesting points in this story if we carefully read the investigation materials.

First and foremost, the following detail should be noted: the vast majority of the equipment mentioned above is essentially dual-use goods that are formally available on the civilian market. This illustrates an important loophole that russians still use to produce weapons in their war against Ukraine.

The next important point is that the mentioned documents are "retrospective" in nature, i.e., they relate to the period of the previous two years.

At first glance, this may look strange, but there may be a rational explanation. russians do not have enough human resources to conceal their in circumvention of Western sanctions.

We can also assume that, for the purposes of "rationalization," russians may prioritize which transactions and nomenclatures of sanctioned equipment and resources they need to hide data on first and which data leaks may not be critical.

Earlier Defense Express reported that russia had introduced the Buran drone, a versatile aerial platform designed for cargo, reconnaissance, and attack missions.
