The number of participants in the Maritime Coalition is gradually increasing

President of Romania Klaus Iohannis has sent a package of documents to the country's parliament that provides for assistance to the Defense Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the UK-led Maritime Coalition.

The authors of Defense Romania received the relevant documents. According to the details given, Romania is ready to provide extensive assistance in terms of training the Ukrainian military and to act as a platform for Ukraine's cooperation with other states.

In particular, it is said that the CB90 military assault crafts that Sweden allocated as part of a new aid package for Ukraine in early September 2024, have allegedly arrived in Romania. Along with these boats, 35 Swedish personnel arrived to train Ukrainian marines.

In order to satisfy the request, Romania will give Swedish instructors access to the infrastructure of the Mangalia naval base and the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base as well.

In addition, Romania will provide the necessary logistical assistance to the Ukrainian military during this training. This will include transportation, food, accommodation, fuel necessary for the educational process, and other "possible elements of logistical support."

In addition, president of Romania proposes not only to approve the country's accession to the Maritime Coalition in support of Ukraine, but also to approve a project to create a training center on Romanian territory to train marines for the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The training center is expected to operate for at least two years and will be supported and funded by the UK. At the same time, Romania reserves the right to terminate the operation of this center within the first two years of its operation, or after this period, if it is necessary.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Romanian government had agreed to transfer the Patriot SAM system to Ukraine.
