On April 4, russian ballistic missile struck a residential area in Kryvyi Rih, landing near apartment buildings and a children’s playground. The attack, described by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as inhumane and deliberate, left 14 people dead, including 6 children, 42 injured. Rescue operations are still underway, and many others have been injured.
“This was a strike right next to homes – near a playground, on an ordinary street. These are not people, these are monsters,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address. The missile caused significant destruction to civilian infrastructure, once again highlighting russia’s continued use of terror tactics against the Ukrainian population.

This deadly incident comes just days after russian drone attack on Kharkiv killed five and injured 34, and another strike targeted the Kherson thermal power plant – a vital piece of civilian infrastructure.
“These are not accidents. Russia knows what it’s hitting. Their promises mean nothing – only bombs, drones, and death follow,” the President said, emphasizing the need for consistent international pressure on Moscow.

These ongoing attacks once again underscore Ukraine’s urgent need for modern air defense systems. Without them, Ukrainian cities remain vulnerable to ballistic missiles, kamikaze drones, and cruise missile strikes. As russia escalates its campaign of civilian terror, bolstering Ukraine’s air defense is not just a matter of national security – it is a matter of saving lives.
