Lithuanian top officials visited Ukraine and announced a new package of military aid, which includes ten M113 APCs and equipment for military trainings

The statement was voiced out by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda during a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as Lithuanian top official visited Kyiv on July 28, Ukrainska Pravda reports.

"I haven’t come empty-handed either. Today, the new package is ammunition and ten armored vehicles. We will soon show anti-drone systems that are manufactured in Lithuania. We know that you need these systems very much," the Lithuanian president said," Gitanas Nausėda noted.

The Minister of Defense of Lithuania Arvydas Anušauskas also visited Ukraine’s capital that day to meet with his counterpart Oleksii Reznikov. In a statement, Anušauskas confirmed that the mentioned ten armored vehicles are nothing but M113, which will add to the 20 units already received by Ukraine earlier.

In addition to the vehicles, Lithuania will deliver blank ammunition and explosives, smoke grenades. The prospects of training for Ukrainian servicemen were also discussed:

“Additional military assistance will arrive in Ukraine soon. The country is getting plenty of M113 APCs, therefore we could train the corresponding Ukrainian maintenance personnel or instructors. We also propose to arrange training for demining personnel," said Arvydas Anušauskas.

It should be noted, that the July 28 announcements are likely a reassurance of the commitment revealed earlier by the Lithuanian defense ministry. In addition to M113, there had been M577 armored personnel carriers promised by the Lithuanians.

The provision of M577 armored command post vehicles for Ukraine was announced earlier in July by the Lithuanian defense minister Arvydas Anušauskas himself. However, he did not mention those in the communique when he visited Kyiv / Open source photo

This could indicate that M577s either would be delivered later, in another package, or they had been delivered to Ukraine even before the officials’ visit, that’s why they did not mention them in their statements during the trip.
