What kinds of howitzers, armored vehicles, and other weapons passed through the country and who provided them

In 2024, Poland decided to classify data on its own arms imports and did not submit the relevant report to the Register of Conventional Arms. However, other countries that supplied equipment and weapons to Poland last year under various circumstances, did not take this step.

It is possible to calculate not only deliveries from South Korea to the Polish armed forces but also the transit through Poland of weapons likely intended for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is stated in a publication by Defence24.

The authors of the publication indicate that, according to the results of 2024, Bulgaria reported the export of 33 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled howitzers and two more 2A31 howitzers, eight MT-LB armored fighting vehicles, as well as 78 towed 120-mm mortars.

It is noted that in previous years Bulgaria either sold weapons to Poland or sent its weapons to Polish companies for further re-export.

In addition, in 2024, the Netherlands supplied Poland with 24 missiles or launchers of an unspecified type, while the United Kingdom transferred eight FV432 armored personnel carriers, one FV439 Royal Signals communications vehicle, 13 FV434 BREM vehicles, and nine units of unspecified MANPADS. Considering the context, all the mentioned weapons were transported through Poland to Ukraine, although other possibilities should not be ruled out either.

An analysis of the UN Register of Conventional Arms showed that in 2024, Poland and Slovakia conducted a rather interesting artillery exchange.

Slovakia transferred a 155 mm EVA self-propelled howitzer, 39 OFD MKM Inert BB shells, and 33 OFD MKM Inert shells to Poland, while Poland transferred EVA and KRAB self-propelled howitzers to Slovakia. This is a very interesting detail, because last year there were no public reports that Poland and Slovakia were cooperating in the field of artillery weapons.

It is also known that in 2024, Poland imported 3,504 M72 grenade launchers from Norway and 192 Carl Gustav grenade launchers from Sweden. At the end of last year, South Korea reported the delivery of 56 K2 tanks and 70 K9 self-propelled artillery systems to Poland. Additionally, at the end of 2023, Poland received another shipment consisting of 18 K2 tanks, 42 K9 systems, and 12 FA-50 jet trainers.
