The Defense Forces of Ukraine currently operate numerous domestically produced 2S22 Bohdana self-propelled artillery systems, with production rates reaching 15–20 units per month as of autumn 2024. Additionally, the first prototype of the towed Bohdana-B was unveiled last year.
The 2S22 Bohdana is primarily operated by the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade, named after Gen. Myron Tarnavskyi. Army Inform interviewed soldiers from this brigade, who shared details on how they engage russian forces using this Ukrainian artillery system.

Over a year of combat, the brigade's artillery unit, equipped with the 2S22 Bohdana, has destroyed more than 200 targets, primarily enemy artillery, including towed and self-propelled systems, mortars, and Grad multiple rocket launchers.
Up to 100–120 rounds are fired daily, targeting enemy infantry, armored vehicles, mortar positions, shelters, and fortifications. As the 2S22 Bohdana's commander, Ruslan, emphasized, the most challenging targets to hit are "small assault units moving simultaneously from multiple directions."

He highlights the importance of proper positioning, fortifications, and camouflage. "It's a well-protected fortress. We won’t reveal all our secrets, but I can say the occupiers have never found us."
The Bohdana also boasts a high level of protection. The vehicle has withstood hits from FPV drones, Lancets, and even 152mm artillery shells. "Recently, a swarm of enemy FPV drones and Lancets attacked us. Shrapnel damaged the windshield, but the cabin held, and the crew remained unharmed."
