There are first results on the development of a towed 155-mm artillery system of Ukrainian production

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has published a video of the presentation of samples of domestically produced equipment and weapons for foreign partners.

In this video, we can see a sample of a towed artillery system of Ukrainian production. Here we are talking about a towed version of the 2S22 Bohdana howitzer. The first reports of work on this version appeared in December 2023.

We can also see that the artillery part from the 2S22 Bohdana is mounted on a gun carriage, probably from the towedGiatsint-B field gun.

The work on Bohdana-B first became known in December 2023 in the context of the fact that the Ukrainian defense industry is capable of producing more barrels than chassis for the Bohdana self-propelled howitzer. Since the need to supply Ukrainian troops with artillery is always acute, the idea to create a towed version of the howitzer arose.

As Defense Express, we can cautiously assume that a certain dissonance between the number of manufactured barrels and the number of chassis for the Bohdana howitzer remains, despite the fact that the production of such self-propelled artillery systems has reached a rate of up to 20 units per month. Therefore, it was deemed expedient to continue working on the towed version of Bohdana.

Since this is only the first publicly known presentation of this artillery system, it is not possible to talk about detailed characteristics, including weight, rate of fire and number of personnel.

Although it should be noted that work on Ukraine's 155-mm towed artillery system continues, and has already reached the first public presentation of the Bohdana-B.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukraine had matched all EU countries combined in the rate of self-propelled artillery production.
