France has boosted its defense spending, with a portion earmarked for investments in production on Ukrainian soil. This announcement came from Gael Veyssiere, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic to Ukraine, who highlighted that France’s defense expenditures now exceed 2% of its GDP.
Gael Veyssiere stressed the importance of investing in Ukraine’s defense capabilities, emphasizing the need to manufacture essential equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine locally. He expressed support for starting such production in Ukraine, underlining the significance of this step.

Additionally, Gael Veyssiere urged backing for Ukraine in its pursuit of victory, cautioning about the consequences of a potential russian success. He warned that a russian victory could lead to destructive actions against neighboring countries, prompting others to seek nuclear capabilities for security reasons, thereby creating a more precarious global situation.
The context of these statements is set against the backdrop of the 16th Annual Kyiv Security Forum, scheduled for March 21-22, aimed at garnering transatlantic support for Ukraine.
