Russia and Iran are developing a plan to build a new factory in russia for the production of the Shahed kamikaze drones, which are actively used for terrorist attacks on Ukraine, as The Wall Street Journal reports.
The russian federation wants to manufacture thousands of kamikaze drones, as well as create a modernized version of the Shahed loitering munition.

Russia and Iran are developing a plan to build a new factory in the russian federation for the production of Shahed-type Iranian kamikaze drones, which the occupiers actively use for terrorist attacks on Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports citing its own sources.
Apparently, russia and Iran have already taken the first steps in this direction: on January 5, the Iranian delegation visited the city of Elabuga, approximately 900 km from Moscow, where they visited an empty site that should become the site of a future plant. It is expected that such a plant "in the coming years" will be able to produce at least 6,000 drones, the publication claims.
The Iranian delegation was directly led by the executive director of the country's key defense manufacturer, Quds Aviation Industry, Hashem Damavandian and Brigadier General Abdullah Mehrabi. As it is noted, the construction of the plant is part of the agreement between the russian federation and Iran for 1 billion dollars - it is noted that Moscow, in particular, supplied Iran with trophy weapons that the occupiers captured in Ukraine.
In addition, the russian federation and Iran are currently cooperating on the creation of a new model of the Shahed-136 kamikaze drone, which will receive a new engine, thanks to which it should fly faster and cover greater distances - the modernized UAV will be manufactured at a new factory, and such a kamikaze drone should "create new problems for Ukraine and other countries that can become targets for drones.
