Enhanced partnership: Meeting with NATO delegation held at Ministry of Defense

Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anatoliy Petrenko and NATO Allied Land Commander Lieutenant General Roger Cloutier discussed practical steps to implement Ukraine’s Enhanced Opportunities Partner status.

"The parties paid special attention to the issues of practical implementation of Ukraine’s Enhanced Opportunities Partner status. Lieutenant General Cloutier praised the contribution of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the Alliance's efforts to maintain peace and stability through participation in NATO-led crisis management operations, thanked for provision of equipment and forces to the NATO Response Force and assured of continued support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity," the press service of the Ministry of Defense informs.

The head of the foreign delegation pointed out the unique experience of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in counteracting hybrid threats and expressed interest in its detailed study, inviting representatives of the Land Forces to take part in relevant conferences.

During the meeting, the parties agreed that the interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the armed forces of NATO member states lies in the compatibility of servicepersons, their cultural kinship, common democratic values and readiness to defend them with weapons in hand.

As reported, Ukraine received the status of NATO Enhanced Opportunities Partner on June 12, 2020.
