The Ukrainian Air Force has achieved a significant milestone by successfully neutralizing russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber for the first time. This bomber is notorious for carrying Kh-22 cruise missiles, which have been employed by russian militants to attack peaceful Ukrainian cities. Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, reported this accomplishment.
He stated, “For the first time, our Air Force air defense units, working in coordination with the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, have eliminated russian Tu-22M3 long-range strategic bomber, an aircraft used by russian terrorists to target innocent Ukrainian civilians with the Kh-22 cruise missiles.”
Moreover, during this operation, two such missiles were successfully intercepted and destroyed for the first time as well.
Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk stressed the urgent need for increased resources, particularly more missiles, to fortify the defense of frontline territories against the ongoing threat of russian terrorism.
