What is the difference between russian and Chinese aircraft carriers and which one has greater potential

Recently, the Japanese Ministry of Defense reported that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy organized a new training and combat mission of the carrier strike group led by the Liaoning (formerly Varyag) aircraft carrier. Its route was off the east coast of the Philippines.

This passage lasted from September 20 to October 1, 2024. The materials of the Japanese Ministry of Defense state that during the 12 days of this campaign, the Liaoning air group performed as many as 630 sorties. 410 were performed between September 20 and 26, and another 220 between September 27 and October 1, 2024.

There are also details that this carrier battle group, led by the Liaoning aircraft carrier, also included three destroyer-class ships and one logistics support ship.

It would seem that in this case it is simply a matter of routine recording of the training and combat activities of the PLA Navy, which is carried by the Japanese Ministry of Defense.

It is interesting that the above message has caused russians to make rather sad comparisons. They decided to compare the activity of another campaign of the Chinese carrier battle group led by the Liaoning aircraft carrier with the activity during the only combat campaign of the squadron led by Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier to the coast of Syria in 2017.

Obviously, the comparison will not be in favor of russians, but it is still worth citing the following specific figures: during the 2 months of the campaign (approximately 60 days) in 2017, the Admiral Kuznetsov air group flew only 154 sorties, with two lost aircraft for technical reasons.

The fact of such rather sad reflections may indicate that russians consider themselves China's "junior partners" and that their capabilities at sea are less than their Chinese counterparts have.

Especially since ongoing repairs of russia's only aircraft carrier, which have been going on since 2017, has not finished yet. This led to a discussion of the fact that the crew of the Admiral Kuznetsov was 1900 people, but there is a nuance to whether russians really wrote off the entire crew of this ship for land combat against Ukraine.

Earlier Defense Express reported that China's ZFB-05 armored vehicles had been spotted in use by russian forces.
