According to the regions’ head, the Russian shelling damaged many civilian houses, industrial buildings, and an administrative building. Two civilians were wounded.
In particular, the Kurakhove community in Pokrovsk district came under enemy fire three times, where a house was damaged in Hostre and an industrial area was hit in Kurakhove. A civilian was wounded in Avdiivka. In the Marinka community, Krasnohorivka, Novomykhailivka and Katerynivka were subjected to enemy strikes.
In the Kramatorsk district, the enemy launched nine attacks on the Lyman community, including six strikes on Yampil, two on Torske, and one on Zarichne.

January 9. More than 14.6 million people – 40 % of the population in Ukraine – will need humanitarian assistance this year, according to the United Nations estimates.

The OCHA stressed that civilians are being killed and injured in Ukraine daily, while their homes and critical infrastructure are being destroyed.

After the strike on January 8, a 54-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman remain in medical facilities, both in moderate condition.
"All those injured are being provided with comprehensive assistance and medical support. The medical staff have everything required to this end," Syniehubov assured.
January 9. Russian troops have injured 1,191 children in Ukraine since the war started in February 2022.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office said this in a Telegram.
"More than 1,711 children affected injured in Ukraine due to Russia's full-scale armed aggression. As of the morning of January 9, 2024, according to official figures from juvenile prosecutors, 520 children were killed and more than 1,191 injured," the post said.
The figures are not final as work is underway to establish them in areas of hostilities and the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
Most children were killed or injured in the Donetsk region - 504, Kharkiv region - 313, Kherson region - 145, Kyiv region - 130, Dnipropetrovsk region - 111, Zaporizhzhia region - 100, Mykolaiv region - 97, Chernihiv region - 72, and Luhansk region - 67.
On January 8, five children aged 4, 8, 11, 16 and 17 were injured in a Russian missile strike on Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region.
January 9. Russian troops launched 41 shelling attacks on the Kherson region on Monday, January 8.
Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration, said this in a post on Facebook.
"Over the past 24 hours, the enemy launched 41 shelling attacks and fired 182 shells from mortars, artillery, Grads, tanks, and unmanned aerial vehicles. The Russian military targeted residential areas in the region's towns and villages," he said.
January 9. In the early hours of Tuesday, the Russian invasion force targeted Marhanets in an artillery attack.

Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, reported this on Telegram.
"Medics are providing assistance to two victims. According to preliminary data, two more people are under the rubble," he said.
Emergency services are working at the scene.

January 5. On Friday afternoon, the Russian army shelled Kryvyi Rih and Nikopol districts of Dnipropetrovsk region, causing destruction.
Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, said this in a post on Telegram.
"The enemy shelled Nikopol district three times with artillery. They also directed four kamikaze drones there. Two private houses caught fire in Nikopol. Both fires were extinguished," he wrote.
It is noted that as a result of the attack, one house was destroyed and five more were damaged. A power line and a gas pipeline were also damaged.
A country house caught fire in the Marhanets community. People were not injured.

January 5. Remnants of Iskander-M missiles were found in Kharkiv after the latest Russian strikes, but they were not of Russian production, the markings on them have been erased.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, an elderly woman, 87, suffered injuries.
The population is urged to shelter immediately and avoid open spaces.
January 4. The Russian army has shelled the Marinka community in the Donetsk region with artillery, killing one person and injuring another.
Vadym Filashkin, head of the regional military administration, said this in a post on Facebook.
"One person was killed and one was injured in Katerynivka of the Marinka community as a result of artillery shelling. [...] The Russians continue to use scorched earth tactics. Anyone who remains in the front-line [areas] risks becoming another target for the enemy," he wrote.
He noted that already this morning, on January 4, the Russians struck the Marinka, Avdiivka and Kurakhove communities, damaging houses. The exact consequences of the shelling are being clarified.
January 4. On Wednesday, January 3, Russia’s invasion forces launched six mortar and barrel artillery strikes on the territory of Chernihiv region close to the border.
This was announced by the Northern Regional Office of the State Border Guard Service on Facebook.
"During the past day, Russian troops fired mortars and barrel artillery at the border areas of Chernihiv region six times," the report reads.
According to border guards, five explosions (probably caused by 120 mm mortar mines) were recorded in the Novhorod-Siverskyi territorial community in the direction of Hremiach.
Seventeen explosions were reported in the Semenivka territorial community (13 were presumably caused by 120 mm mortar mines, and four – by artillery rounds) in the direction of Tymonovichi, Arkhipivka, Khotiivka, and Leonivka.
No casualties were reported.
January 3. Russian troops have started to drop guided bombs on border areas in the Kharkiv region’s Bohodukhiv and Kharkiv districts.
The relevant statement was made by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“Guided bombs used to be employed by the enemy in the Kupiansk direction only, but now we are recording their usage in the Bohodukhiv and Kharkiv districts. It is the north of our region, the northeastern direction,” Syniehubov told.
Additionally, Russian invaders drop bombs on the Chuhuiv district’s town of Vovchansk, which is situated not far from the border with Russia.
January 3. The enemy launched missile strikes on Avdiivka, Donetsk region, on Wednesday, January 3, killing one civilian and injuring another.
That's according to the Donetsk regional military administration.
"Today, at around 11:00, the Russians fired four missiles at the city and hit a residential building. A 51-year-old man died on the spot, while a 50-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with injuries," the post reads.
The administration recalled that Avdiivka is subject to enemy shelling every day and currently no one can guarantee safety. Therefore, the administration once again called on locals to be responsible and evacuate.
January 3. Russian troops shelled over 15 settlements across the Kharkiv region with artillery and mortars, on January 2, 2024.
The relevant statement was made by Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Head Oleh Syniehubov on Facebook.
In particular, the enemy shelling affected the Chuhuiv district’s Okhrymivka; Kupiansk district’s Bolohivka, Dvorichanske, Dvorichna, Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka and Berestove.
Around 12:00 (noon), January 2, 2024, Russian troops shelled the Kharkiv district’s village of Lyptsi. Around 01:47 p.m. and 02:30 p.m., they also struck the Chuhuiv district’s town of Vovchansk. Two houses were damaged and destroyed. A woman, 65, received injuries.

January 2. Russian forces launched a missile attack on Ukraine's eastern city of Kharkiv late on January 2, hitting a school in the city's Osnovianskyi district.
That's according to Suspilne Kharkiv.
Part of the two-story building collapsed, the report said.
"At the site of the explosion, there is a crater with a diameter of about ten meters, filled with water. Rescuers assume that the missile strike damaged an underground water pipe," the report reads.

January 2. The Russian army has shelled the Nikopol district in Ukraine's southeastern Dnipropetrovsk region with artillery and kamikaze drones.
Dnipropetrovsk region governor Serhii Lysak said this in a post on Telegram.

“More than 1,694 children in Ukraine have suffered from the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation. As of the morning of January 2, 2024, according to the official information provided by juvenile prosecutors, 515 children were killed and more than 1,179 received injuries of various degrees of severity,” the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine posted on Telegram.

January 2. Russia's morning missile attack has killed two people in the Fastiv district, Kyiv region.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said this in a post on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
According to the minister, emergency services are working in six districts in Kyiv where seven fires broke out, particularly the Obolonskyi, Pecherskyi, Podilskyi, Solomianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi and Desnianskyi districts.

Klymenko said the attack on Kharkiv had killed one person and injured 41 others. Civilian infrastructure was damaged.
Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv regional military administration, said that five apartment buildings had been damaged in the city of Vyshneve, Kyiv region, and a number of private houses and more than 60 cars had been damaged in the region's communities.
January 1. Russian artillery shelling has killed a 73-year-old woman in Avdiivka, Donetsk region.
Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, said this in a post on the Telegram.
"A 73-year-old woman was killed by a Russian projectile in Avdiivka. At around 16:00, the enemy shelled the city with artillery, hitting private homes. A local resident was injured and, despite all efforts, the doctors could not save her," the post said.
Filashkin said that all of the Donetsk region is now one big hot spot, especially front-line towns and villages.

The relevant statement was made by Kyiv Regional Military Administration Head Ruslan Kravchenko on Facebook.
“During the first day of the new year, air raid sirens triggered across the region three times. Last time they lasted for about 2.5 hours due to another enemy drone attack,” the report states.
Ukraine’s air defense units were working across the Kyiv region. Thanks to their effective combat performance, no critical infrastructure and housing infrastructure objects were hit.
“At the same time, the debris crashed in several settlements across two districts. So far, four detached houses and four light motor vehicles have been reported damaged. January 1. Russian troops have shelled the Kupiansk district in the Kharkiv region, killing a man in the town of Dvorichna.
The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said this in a post on Telegram.
