The cooperation between two manufacturers allows to scale up the production of armored vehicles equipped with anti-drone jammers right off the assembly lines

Recently, Ukrainian Armor LLC reported delivery of the first batch of its brand-new Novator-2 armored personnel carriers to the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU). Notably, these 4x4 wheeled armored cars came with electronic warfare equipment that creates dome-like protection around the vehicle, countering any incoming explosive FPV drones, widely deployed by both sides of the war in Ukraine.

However, the exact type of the jamming system remained unknown until now. Kvertus, a Ukraine-based EW manufacturer, announced the start of cooperation with Ukrainian Armor LLC and published more photos of the National Guard's new vehicles showcasing their systems mounted in the rear of the vehicles.

For Ukraine, a type of cooperation between two manufacturers where an armor maker integrates electronic warfare as part of standard kit during production of the vehicle is a precedent.

"Having EW devices not only at positions, but also on combat vehicles is extremely important for the soldiers. A vehicle on the move is easy to notice for reconnaissance drones, which guide FPV drones towards it. Until now, we did not have an acceptable solution to this problem: different vehicles require different ways of installing EW devices. We are very glad that in cooperation with Ukrainian Armor specialists, we will finally mass produce it in series!" Kvertus says in a Facebook post.

The products manufactured by Kvertus are already familiar to the Ukrainian Defense Forces of various branches of the military. The manufacturer offers a wide selection of tools — from portable anti-drone guns resembling a rifle to stationary systems like the MS Azimuth electronic intelligence system designed to detect enemy unmanned aerial vehicles.

That said, the Novator-2 received a version of the AD Kraken Counter FPV F3 system, as seen in the photos. The system comes in two varieties, the M30 and the M50 with respective power outputs of 30 and 50 W on each channel.

The device protects armored vehicles from FPV drones by creating an omnidirectional collinear dome or pointing in a specific direction in the range of 150 (M30) or 200 (M50) meters. The system weighs less than 40 kg, features active cooling, and can work continuously for up to 12 hours with a one-hour break. It can be activated within 30 seconds and covers frequencies of 700 to 1050 MHz in three bands, two channels per band.
