In this case, opening a new facility in a short time doesn't mean production will start as quickly

State media in Russia report that the Moscow municipality has built a new production hall in the so-called Rudnevo Industrial Park. The building will be handed over to the Almaz-Antey arms corporation, specialized in making anti-aircraft systems.

According to these reports, the facility was constructed in a record-breaking timeframe, in just 8.5 months, by employing "pre-made industrial kits" to assemble some of the important elements of the hall. Inside this building, the entire production cycle and testing will take place of all Almaz-Antey's products made on order by the russian Ministry of Defense.

On the part of Defense Express, we should point out the following nuances. From one perspective, raising an industrial building in 8.5 months is an impressive result. From the other, the fact in itself that the construction is finished doesn't mean that an assembly line has been put in place, so the russians will need some more time before they can launch production.

Speaking of the variety of weapons that could be produced at the new industrial hall, we assume that not only air defense weapons would be manufactured there. In late September 2023, a video published by russian official Dmitry Medvedev revealed a project on converting the 48N6 anti-aircraft missile into a quasi-ballistic tactical missile for strikes onto ground targets.

The available data showed the new missile was expected to get a new set of specifications, including altered range, guidance system, and potentially warhead, too.

Moreover, the manufacturer of the S-400 system is none other than Almaz-Antey. So there is a possibility that the new industrial facility was built specially for the production of this new weapon.

Earlier Defense Express explained how S-400 failed to prove itself as an air defense weapon after all the myths surrounding this russian development were quite literally destroyed by Ukrainian precision strikes.
