A significant portion of the Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers to be delivered to the Bundeswehr will be able to destroy armored vehicles, including tanks such as the russian T-90M. This is planned to be achieved through MELLS LR2 anti-tank guided missile integration.
According to Hartpunkt, new systems will be installed on Protector RS4 turrets from the Norwegian company Kongsberg. It is known that among vehicles receiving this configuration will be reconnaissance armored group variants.

The remotely controlled combat module reportedly accommodates one MELLS launch tube, after which reloading must be conducted externally. This configuration is being procured by Denmark and successfully passed testing in November 2025.
Defense Express notes that this represents a significant enhancement to armored personnel carrier firepower, allowing them to counter armored vehicles, including tanks. Otherwise, this appears as a typical sample of its class, including control from inside the vehicle and manual external reloading.

Recall that combat module procurement became known in early February 2026. These were intended not only for Germany but also for Sweden for installation on Patria 6x6 APCs under the CAVS program.
Regarding MELLS LR2 anti-tank missiles themselves, this is the Israeli Spike LR2 localized in Europe and manufactured by EuroSpike. Its range is 5,500 meters with improved optics for control and engaging targets at weak points using a tandem-shaped charge warhead.
These anti-tank systems are actively operated in Europe and integrated into armored vehicles. Interestingly, Spain selected them to replace a politically cancelled Spike contract, which is quite strange given system kinship and Israeli company involvement in production.
Regarding Patria 6x6, deliveries to Germany have already begun, though still in pre-production configuration for testing. Recall that Ukraine also received them within military aid from Lithuania.
