Delays in U.S. aircraft deliveries are now common issue, affecting multiple types for various reasons

Delivery of F-15EX fighters is delayed indefinitely due to strikes at a Boeing plant, according to General Kenneth Wilsbach, a candidate for Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force.

He emphasized that although the aircraft meets cost, schedule, and performance criteria, the delivery of the second batch of planes is delayed it was supposed to be completed this year. As of now, six of the 12 planned aircraft have been delivered. This was reported by Air and Space Forces Magazine.

The strike at Boeing’s St. Louis plant began in September, and it is still unclear how much it will affect fighter deliveries.

The delay will also impact the operations of the Air National Guard base in Portland, Oregon, which hosts the F-15EX pilot school and the first operational F-15EX unit.

Nevertheless, Wilsbach explains that despite the delays, overall delivery timelines reportedly remain within the baseline procurement schedule.
