​The UK Defense Intelligence Updates the Analysis of the Attack on russian Yeysk Airfield

These strikes will cause some disruption to russia’s ability to use UAVs to strike targets deep within Ukrainian territory

Russia uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to attack Ukrainian targets both military and civilian. On June 21, 2024, the Ukrainian Navy reported they had struck russian 726th Air Defense Training Centre at Yeysk airfield.

This base is one of at least five from which russia launches its UAVs attacks against Ukraine. This strike reportedly destroyed 120 UAVs. Russia has been heavily dependent on UAVs as Ukraine’s strong air defense presents challenges for russian fast jets and bomber aircrafts. Ukraine’s successful strike on russian airfield, is highly likely to disrupt russia’s ability to use UAVs to strike Ukrainian targets in near future.
