Germany is going to order another 1,744 Wolf 2 army off-road vehicles from Mercedes-Benz. And such a contract will cost 380 million euros, meaning one will cost approximately 218 thousand euros by rough calculation.
As Hartpunkt writes, the contract was approved by the Bundestag's budget committee. Moreover, it belongs to a broader existing framework agreement for purchasing up to 5,800 such vehicles, which was signed in 2024.

Defense Express notes that the current order will be the second within this agreement, as back in August 2025, 1,500 off-road vehicles were purchased for an undisclosed sum. If we consider that the price then was approximately the same as now, it cost approximately 326.8 million euros.
Regarding delivery rates, after the framework agreement was ready, the first 5 prototypes were transferred in November 2024, undergoing testing until October 2025. Now, supposedly, serial vehicles are already arriving.

The Bundeswehr says that 30 vehicles arrive at their warehouses weekly, which corresponds to the desired rates that Mercedes-Benz voiced earlier. Thus, annual production can reach as many as 1,440 per year.
However, transfer to troops will only be carried out from 2026, as communication and control equipment still needs to be installed. This includes the modern D-LBO ground operations digitalization system, which has only begun entering German service.

Wolf 2 is based on the civilian Mercedes-Benz G-Class series 464 and is a continuation of the Wolf line of unarmored military off-road vehicles. They have been in service with the German military since the 1980s. The vehicles themselves have a gross weight of 4.5 tons with a possible 1.2 tons payload capacity and seats for transporting 4 military personnel including the driver. Mobility is provided by a 249 hp engine that meets Euro 3 standards.
