New details on the role of Ukrainian-made multiple rocket launchers on the battlefield

The more photos of the "Burevii" multiple launch rocket system get into the public domain, the more voices speak out that it is basically an upgrade of the Soviet BM-27 "Uragan" MLRS, with its chassis replaced by Tatra.

Our colleagues from ArmyInform argue with that opinion with an article dedicated to this Ukrainian development. While Defense Express earlier covered the key differences between these two systems, they focused on two aspects, previously never disclosed.

First, unlike the Uragan, the Burevii system is equipped with the "Krip-A" complex. This communication system allows to reduce the time spent by the crew from deployment to rocket launch by several minutes: the crew need not leave the vehicle on their way to the firing position; all the communication in the battery and data exchange is made without the use of a radio station.

Therefore, the Ukrainian Burevii provides more safety for personnel than the Soviet Uragan.

Secondly, the Burevii has a digital fire control system that allows you to receive real-time data from unmanned aircraft. The deployment to the firing spot begins with receiving intelligence from UAVs.

This brings us to the conclusion: the Burevii system should be denoted as an element of the reconnaissance-and-strike complex created by the Ukrainian forces on a particular segment of the frontline. Though we’ll have to wait until the war end to find out the specifics of this element.
