Russian forces are utilizing munitions from North Korea, dated back to the 1970s. Business Insider, referencing a report from the National Intelligence Service (NIS) of South Korea, highlights this concerning alliance.
The NIS is actively monitoring this military collaboration, examining the circumstances closely. North Korea has reportedly supplied millions of aged shells to russian forces fighting in Ukraine. Despite russia’s efforts to boost domestic shell production, they’ve turned to North Korea due to demand.

There have been concerns about the quality of these North Korean shells since December 2023. They often malfunction, exploding prematurely and causing damage to russian artillery and mortars, sometimes resulting in casualties among the crews.
