Ukrainian drone operators from the Prime unit, part of the 5th Border Guard Detachment, have once again demonstrated their precision and effectiveness in delivering targeted strikes against russian forces along the Kursk direction. Operating near the northeastern border, this elite drone unit continues to play a key role in Ukraine's strategy of disrupting enemy logistics, equipment, and personnel with minimal risk to their own forces.
The recent operation, as reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, highlights significant russian losses. Ukrainian FPV drones targeted and destroyed a wide range of enemy positions and assets, including 12 shelters, four UAV launch sites, and a warehouse storing FPV drones. These strikes directly impact the enemy's ability to sustain reconnaissance and kamikaze drone operations in the region.

The unit also successfully neutralized critical russian firepower. Two artillery positions and one active firing point were hit, disrupting the enemy's capability to shell Ukrainian positions. Additionally, four vehicles and four motorcycles used by russian forces were destroyed, impeding mobility and supply chains on the front line.
Infrastructure was not spared either. Ukrainian drone strikes damaged four telecommunications towers and a key electronic warfare antenna, likely reducing the enemy's communication and signal-jamming capabilities. This kind of targeted degradation of infrastructure is crucial in modern warfare, where electronic superiority often determines battlefield outcomes.
In terms of personnel, the operation was equally devastating. At least ten russian soldiers were reported killed. These losses, though limited in number, can significantly affect morale and operational effectiveness in forward-deployed units already stretched thin by months of fighting.
The success of the Prime unit underscores the growing role of drone warfare in Ukraine's defense strategy. The ability to locate, track, and destroy enemy assets with unmanned systems provides a major tactical advantage, especially in areas like the Kursk region, where direct confrontations may be costly or impractical.
