The North Korean regime has secured an important survivability factor for its munitions production

North Korea handed over 20,000 containers of ammunition to russia, which could contain up to 9.4 million 152-mm shells. Their route ran through the port city of Rajin.

Against the background of such large-scale supplies of ammunition to russia, the DPRK keeps a stockpile of weapons and shells, which should be enough for a period of one to three months of hostilities against South Korea. This was reported by Yonhap, South Korean news agency.

It is noted that this assessment was made by a representative of the ruling South Korean People Power Party, Kang Dae-sik, citing data by the South Korean Ministry of Defense.

He stated that supplies of shells to russia have had a limited impact on the DPRK's arsenals. At the same time, if Moscow requests additional munitions from Pyongyang, it could "complicate the North Korean regime's preparations" for full-scale hostilities against South Korea.

At the same time, there is another important point. South Korea recognizes that it currently has limited data on North Korea's munitions and weapons production capabilities, because a significant portion of the North Korean regime's 200 munitions plants is located underground. This creates an additional factor of survivability and secrecy for the North Korean military industry.

At the same time, it is believed that North Korean factories producing shells for the russian federation are operating at "full capacity", but there is no further elaboration.

As Defense Express, we emphasize that this data is important not only as an update on quantity of ammunition russia could have received from the DPRK. It is also a record of the fact that even South Korea, as a direct adversary of the North Korean regime, is currently faced with the impossibility of objectively assessing the North Korean regime's weapons production capabilities.

Earlier Defense Express reported that 12,000 North Korean soldiers had arrived in russia.
