Redkinsky experemental plant is one of the unique russian enterprises with a very specific product range and customer base

On Thursday, June 27, Ukrainian Liutyi drones attacked a rather unusual target. It was Redkinsky experemental plant. It is located 500 km from the Ukrainian border in the Tver Oblast, russia.

According to russian unofficial sources, four drones hit the target. One of them pierced the roof of one of the workshops, two hit nearby, as well as another damaged a pipeline and caused a fire.

This is the second known attack on this russian plant. The first strike occurred on September 13, 2023. It became known that one drone fell, after the so-called downing. It fell on a depot with causing a fire.

Redkinsky experemental plant is a rather unique enterprise for the russian federation. Although it is not a manufacturer of final defense products, a number of russian defense enterprises in aviation, missile and space industries depend on its work. The main customer of the plant's products is the Ministry of Defense of the russian federation.

Aviatek defense company, JSC Rostvertol, as well as Soyuz Federal center for dual-use technologies are among the main companies that depend on the plant's work. This is not the final list, as it includes more than 400 companies.

Aviatek defense company is a part of Almaz-Antey Open Joint Stock Company. It produces anti-aircraft missiles, ejection seats and aircraft components. Rostvertol produces Mi-26, Mi-28 and Mi-35 helicopters.

Soyuz Federal center for dual-use technologies is the leading and main developer and manufacturer of solid-propellant engines for intercontinental ballistic missiles, including RT-2PM2 Topol-M (NATO reporting name: SS-27 "Sickle B), RS-24 Yars (NATO reporting name: SS-29) and RSM-56 Bulava (NATO reporting name: SS-NX-30), as well as for Iskander ballistic missiles, MLRS, etc.

The products manufactured at the affected chemical plant, include special resins for composite materials, epoxy hardeners, high temperature corrosion-resistant materials and additives for their production, tungsten compounds, and corrosion inhibitors.

This company is also one of those that produces specific silicone materials. Their import into the russian federation has been a problem since 2014, and the government began to complain about it in 2017.

Earlier Defense Express reported that russia had wanted to counter Ukrainian maritime drone threat with the VT-30E helicopter drone.
