U.S. Deployed 150+ Aircraft to Kidnap Venezuela's President, Special Ops Chinooks Were Perfect for Job

U.S. used MH-47G special ops helicopters among 150+ aircraft in Operation Resolute Determination kidnapping Maduro and wife

United States deployed over 150 aircraft for its operation against Venezuela bombers, fighters, helicopters, etc. launching from 20 airbases in the region, resulting in kidnapping the country's president Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores. We previously detailed in detail which forces the U.S. engaged for the Venezuela operation.

Among all aviation the United States used in the operation were MH-47G helicopters, modified variants of Boeings transport MH-47G and like mysterious stealth drones RQ-170 Sentinel, these helicopters are exemplary weapons for operations like Resolute Determination.

As a reminder, the MH-47 series history dates back to the 1980s when American military received the first MH-47Ds constantly updated because they lacked certain improvements. From 1993, improved MH-47Es with more powerful engines, enhanced software, etc. began entering service.

Regarding the latest MH-47G Block 2 variant, U.S. special operators received first machines in fall 2020. The modernized version received aerial refueling option, improved digital avionics, multimode radar, electronic warfare suite, and FRIES system for rapid insertion plus other improvements.
