He emphasized that the protection of this facility is more important to the occupiers than the protection of other significant facilities on the territory of the russian federation

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk told how the Kerch bridge helps to destroy enemy weapons depots and russian air defense. He said this in an interview with Kyiv24.

"Yes, there are no attacks on the Kerch bridge right now. But for some reason, all russian air defense goes to Crimea periodically. It means that the protection of this object is more important to russians than the protection of no less serious objects on the territory of the russian federation. You have seen the destruction of armament depots, which means the destruction of what they directly rely on to fight. It turns out that the Crimean bridge is a higher priority than armament depots for them," Pletenchuk emphasized.

He recalled that the Crimean bridge is the only thing that connects the russian federation with Crimea, because the sea logistics "is already dead". After the destruction of Novocherkassk and Caesar Kunikov large landing ships, occupiers realized that they could no longer afford to transport military cargo on such ships. Pletenchuk stressed that there was also an attempt to organize logistics by train ferries, but as a result only the Kerch bridge remained. Moreover, the railroad does not work after the bridge was damaged as a result of a joint operation of the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Navy.

"So, the main route remains either land logistics or road logistics via the bridge. It is much more complicated, longer, more expensive, but it works," Pletenchuk noted.

He confirmed that russians amass all the weapons they have to protect the bridge.

"There was information that they were using S-500 system there. This is the latest of their big air defense systems. This is not to mention the S-300 and S-400 systems, which, for some reason, also periodically disappear in Crimea. Apparently, this artery remains in place for now only because russians give it priority in protection,” Pletenchuk said.
