Ukrainian Defense Intelligence drones attacked Lukoil's oil refinery in the Volgograd Oblast of russia on the night of May 10-11

This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda with reference to a source in the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

"There was rumbling in russia once again on the night of May 10-11. The drones of Ukraine's Defense Intelligence paid a visit to the Volgograd oil refinery, owned by PJSC LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka, at 03:45. The primary oil processing units AVT-1 and AVT-6 were affected," the source indicated.

According to intelligence sources, the primary refining units AVT-1 and AVT-6 sustained damage, and the full extent of the damage is currently under assessment. Moreover, seven air refrigerators were shut down due to the destruction of a control cable. Additionally, the chimney of the P-1 furnace was targeted and hit.

russian media reported that on May 11, air defense systems intercepted seven drones over the Volgograd and Kursk regions. Anti-aircraft fire was audible in Volgograd's Krasnoarmeysky district.

The publication notes that LLC LUKOIL-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery is the largest producer of petroleum products in russia's Southern Federal District, boasting a plant capacity of 14.8 million tonnes. It has operated as a 100% subsidiary of PJSC LUKOIL since 1993.

This is the second time Ukrainian drones have struck the oil refinery in Volgograd. In February 2024, two drones hit the primary oil processing unit.
